These oil paintings by Miguel Robledo are inspired by the Nahual, a magical animal and protector of sorcerers and warriors in the mythology of Mesoamerican cultures. The Nahual is also perceived as a representative icon of a tribe or community. The formal structure of the paintings is based on the dominant vertical composition of the totem poles of some Native American tribes. Each painting symbolically represents the three levels of the human being: unconscious, conscious and subconscious. The graphic language is completely free and contemporary and is not intended to imitate ethnic characteristics at any time.. On the contrary, when this language is articulated together with the images, improves a visual grammar that becomes a well-structured symbolic visual language.
